it was just a couple weeks ago that the royals were massacred by the indians, with luke hudson giving up 11 runs in the first inning.
now they blow the win after scoring 10 runs in the first, setting a club record for biggest lead ever given up and becoming only the second team ever to lose after scoring double digits in the first inning. and against what team but the indians! when i saw they were up 10-1, I thought “sweet vengeance!” but now i think i’m gonna be sick. I have to go back and listen to how commentator denny matthews was able to eek out the final innings of calling this one. the man has the patience of job — this is his 40th year spent wandering in the kansas city desert…
Not that it was always a desert, but the river of milk and honey dried up long ago.

click here for a really amazing story about the astros’ third baseman.
i had heard about this incident before but never in such detail. my brother once told me that ensberg gave an interview with jim rome about his hostage experience but i never got a chance to listen to it.
you’ll need an Insider Account to read the article. I hope Brian doesn’t mind my handing out his account info:

Ever wondered who that crazy is always heckling players at the devil rays games?
His name is Robert Szasz. Not only does he have a wikipedia entry, he also has his own book. If only his last name were a palindrome…

So here’s a pic of our commissioner doing his best Charlie Chan impersonation. How do you blindfold a Red Sox fan? With dental floss! Notice that his doppleganger is none other than Elisabeth Taylor as determined by cutting-edge facial recognition software. Whose cheeks are rosier? Only time will tell!

My fantasy league, “el guapo returns,” contains two supergeeks. first there is the commish, eben. man is he a dork. then there is his best friend, a limey, named luke. these two are always bickering like a couple of yaks in heat. then there’s ethan… what a weiner! more on him later…
